This piece was originally composed and played live for the online year of the CSGs. It is an example of a style of turntablism I have been developing over the past number of years. Utilizing a QFO turntables unique ultra pitch system allows me to play melody, bass and harmonies, within the heavy range constraints of only about 14 semitones. This can be augmented and “cheated” slightly using various signal processors and manual techniques. This more concise arrangement has additional overdubs but the video (available on my Youtube channel) shows very well how this type of turntable melody technique can be achieved. It starts out with the percussion being created by "playing" the body of the turntable while the stylus tip is in contact with the record or tt body. If this type of stuff is of interest perhaps have a listen to my album "Force of Nurture" which is a complete work for turntable and MPD. It has no programmed beats and was a complete work recorded using just QFO turntable for melody, bass etc and MPD for drums, percussion, etc.
